Description
The heavy ion accelerator consists of an ISOL and an IF system, where the ISOL produces rare isotopes using a 70 MeV proton beam and is configured so that they can be re-accelerated by the IF system. In the IF system, for the stable isotope U-238, the maximum beam energy is 200 MeV/u. Currently, a cyclotron-based ISOL system and a low-energy superconducting accelerator are in operation, and preparations are underway for the high-energy section. The radiation safety device for the accelerator is designed to prevent radiation exposure or contamination spread during the operators’ daily activities and to stop the release of radioactive materials generated by the operation of the heavy ion accelerator. This safety device is designed so that the safety system is configured and operated independently. The safety system consists of personal safety and interlock systems as well as a radiation monitoring system, and the details will be explained in this workshop.
