Visa Requirements
Entry to Korea
All foreign participants entering the Republic of Korea to attend SATIF-17 must hold a valid passport and, where required, a valid entry visa. Nationals of countries that have a visa-waiver agreement or reciprocal visa-free arrangement with Korea may enter without a visa for short-term stays; however, most visa-free travelers must obtain a K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) online before departure, unless they are currently exempt.
Since visa and K-ETA requirements vary by nationality and are subject to change, please check the requirements applicable to you well in advance of your travel. If you are unsure whether you need a visa, please contact the Korean embassy or consulate nearest to you as early as possible.

Letter of Invitation
Participants who require a personal letter of invitation for their visa application can request one from the SATIF-17 secretariat. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the visa procedure and apply as early as possible, since processing times vary by country. Please note that the letter of invitation is issued solely to assist with your visa application; the organizers cannot intervene with Korean embassies or consulates on behalf of any participant, and the letter does not guarantee that a visa will be granted.
To request a letter of invitation, please email ishong@ibs.re.kr with the following information:
- Full name (as shown in your passport)
- Date of birth and nationality
- Passport number
- Complete mailing address
- Valid email address and phone number
- Full name of your affiliation and your position
- Abstract submission ID or registration confirmation (the email address used for submission or registration)
Please note that letters of invitation may only be issued to participants who have submitted an abstract or completed registration.
