Description
Shielding Integral Benchmark Archive and Database (SINBAD) [1] includes over 100 shielding benchmarks covering fission, fusion and accelerator applications. The project started in the early 1990-ies at OECD/NEA Data Bank and RSICC with the objective to preserve the experimental data and the information on the measurement procedure. SINBAD provides an experimental database for the integral validation and improvement of basic nuclear data and computer codes. The analysis of benchmarks helps identifying nuclear data status and needs where future nuclear data evaluation and experimental activities should focus,
23 accelerator benchmark experiments involving both neutrons and gamma-rays are included with shielding materials such as Fe/stainless steel, Cu, W, O, concrete and many more. Many more benchmarks are waiting in the “to-do” list since many years, since the progress in benchmark evaluations is practically at the stillstand since over a decade. Better times seem to be ahead with the SINBAD Task Force slowly starting adding new entries. While the 2012 SATIF presentation [2] still describes well enough the present status of the database, the new organisational framework should act as an invitation to accelerator community to consider contribution experimental data to SINBAD again.
An analysis of TIARA benchmark, included in SINBAD using both Monte Carlo and deterministic codes will be presented. The combined use of both methods allowed to spot some differences and inconsistences in the modern nuclear data evaluations, such as FENDL-3.2, JEFF-4.0 and ENDF/B-VIII.1. Moreover, the transport calculations were complemented by the sensitivity and uncertainty (S/U) calculations to identify the most sensitive isotopes and nuclear reactions, and to evaluate the computational uncertainties due to nuclear data uncertainties.
S/U analysis of a recent IFMIF-DONES concrete benchmark performed at the Rez facility will be presented. This concrete benchmark represents a good potential candidate for future SINBAD evaluation.
