Introduction
NanoTerasu is a fourth-generation synchrotron light source consisting of a 3-GeV linear accelerator and a storage ring with a circumference of 349 m. The spatial distribution of secondary neutrons generated by electron beam losses contains information on the locations and intensities of beam losses, and is therefore important for shielding design and radiation protection. In...

NanoTerasu is a 3-GeV synchrotron radiation facility in Japan that has been routinely operated at the design beam current of 400 mA since November 2025. In electron storage rings, gas bremsstrahlung produced by interactions between stored electrons and residual gas molecules is unavoidable, and thus shielding against both high-energy photons and photoneutrons is essential. The shielding design...

In high-energy accelerator facilities, severe radiation exposure may occur in accidental scenarios, such as personnel being inadvertently left inside an accelerator tunnel during beam operation or unexpected beam delivery. Personal dosimeters may provide essential information for estimating the received dose after such events. However, the reliability of dose assessment using personal neutron...

This contribution presents the novel single-moderator neutron spectrometer, named "TetraBall", developed by INFN within the CMS BRIL project, aiming at characterizing the complex neutron field in the CMS experimental cavern for the High-Lumi LHC era. The TetraBall is a wide energy range neutron spectrometer condensing the functionality of several Bonner Spheres in a single moderator. It is...

The Second Target Station (STS) Project at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is currently completing the final design of components related to Target Systems and Instrument Systems. These components include the rotating water-cooled tungsten target, two liquid-hydrogen moderators, instrument bunker shielding, and many others. Following completion of the Proton Power Upgrade (PPU) at the...

The ISOLDE (Isotope Separator On-Line DEvice) facility at CERN produces radioactive ion beams for research in nuclear, atomic and solid-state physics using thick targets irradiated with a 1.4 GeV / 2 microA (2.8 kW) proton beam. The facility comprises two target stations, each equipped with a dedicated beam dump located about two metres downstream of the target. The beam dumps are surrounded...

In the construction of accelerator facilities in Japan, the concrete to be placed has not been decided at the time of shielding calculations. Therefore, shielding calculations are carried out with concrete compositions selected by the designers, e.g. from ANL-5800 (USA). However, the composition is not data for concrete in Japan, and the basis for the data is also unclear.

A 7Li(p,n) reaction and 235U system will replace the 252Cf based radioactive ion beam source at the Argonne Tandem Linac Accelerator System (ATLAS) accelerator. Re-purposing a room with no shield walls that housed a 252Cf source based RI source with a 30 kW intense n-γ producing source posed challenges from the radiation physics and operational radiation protection perspectives. FLUKA and...
