Description

When an accelerator facility is constructed, an architectural drawing is written based on shielding calculation results. Although shielding calculation and architectural design work separately, communication in design process between them is important to build a reasonable and easy-to-use accelerator facility. If communication is poor, the facility may be inconvenient layout which is a particular problem in medical accelerator facilities.
In order to facilitate the communication, a development is carried out to link the shielding calculation result and BIM that has been used in the design. BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a system that improves the efficiency of facility design and construction by inputting various information, such as building material information, into a 3D building model. We created a program to display the shielding calculation results of PHITS and DCHAIN on the BIM. This software can read PHITS and DCHAIN output files, convert them to a format that BIM software can read, and display them in a BIM model.
By linking BIM with shielding calculation results, it is possible to display 3D distributions of dose and activity. Communication between shielding calculations and architectural design become smoother, this allows to improve the efficiency of design work such as room layouts.
