Parallel session

This session is consisted of three parallel sessions depending on science topic. We hope that more practical discussions would be done from each session.

  • Ultrafast Photoinduced Dynamics in Condensed Matter
(Convener : Dr. SaeHwan Chun and Dr. Hoyoung Jang)
  • Exploring Chemical Reaction Dynamics with PAL-XFEL : A Symposium for Young Scientists
(Convener : Dr. Jae Hyuk Lee and Dr. Sang Han Park)
  • Applications of XFEL for Multiple Purposes in Structural Biology
(Convener : Dr. Sang Jae Lee)

Poster session

  • Create and print your poster
The poster should follow the traditional printed format, and as long as readability is observed, you may choose between usual formats. We suggest following the traditional A0 portrait, or a similar format around 80 cm x 120 cm. A0 landscape format is also a good alternative for viewing the poster by the screen sharing.
  • Set up your poster
The printed poster should be set up before the banquet on August 16.
  • Present your poster in person
Poster presenters are required to stand by the poster during the scheduled duration of the poster session to answer questions from attendees.
  • One-minute poster pitches
Just before the starts of the poster session, the poster presenters are required to present the summarized contents of the poster for one minute. By August 14th, the presenters must send their presentation materials for one-minute pitches to the designated email address (palxfel-beamline@postech.ac.kr). The presentation materials should consist of a maximum of two slides and be in PDF format.

Tutorial session

This session is consisted of two parallel sessions, time-reserved XFEL experiment and serial crystallography data processing. Welcome your join!

  • XANES experiment
    • Contact : Dr. Jae Hyuk Lee (jaehyuk.lee@postech.ac.kr)

At the third PAL-XFEL Users' Meeting we are pleased to offer a tutorial on time-resolved X-ray absorption spectroscopy, an introduction to this fascinating technique that has great potential for the study of chemical reaction kinetics. In this session we will explore, through a short lecture and experimental demonstration, what can be observed with time-resolved X-ray absorption spectroscopy, how the measurements are performed and how to effectively interpret the data obtained at PAL-XFEL.

  • SFX data processing
    • Contact : Dr. Sang Jae Lee (sangjaelee@postech.ac.kr)

In this SFX tutorial, we will start a demonstration of the microcrystal preparation and observation of the crystal samples. Also, we will learn how to collect data and how computations are performed. Users who go through the tutorial will greatly benefit when conducting actual SFX experiments.
